How to do a house blessing

April 22, 2020

Hello Amazing Friends,

Have you ever done a house blessing before?

It’s a ceremony that makes your home feel sacred and clean energetically. If you do it before tidying, it will ignite momentum you need to get started.  It’s not hard to do and it makes a world of difference! Half of the ceremony is gathering the materials, the rest is just fun and beautiful!

These are the materials, but seriously there’s no need to buy anything if you think creatively about what you have at home!

Materials:

- a beautiful cloth (it could be a scarf, tablecloth, or blanket)

-flowers either in a vase or just the flower heads

--saucer (optional)

- candle-sage, incense, or essential oil spray

--lighter or matches

- paper

- pen

-tuning fork or bell-crystal (optional)

Now that you have the materials here we go:

Step one- Find a spot in your home that feels good to you. Spread out your cloth and place all your materials on it.

Step two- Display your flowers

Set your bouquet of flowers on the cloth OR Place the flower heads in a circle on your saucer and put your candle in the middle.

Step three- Light your candle and offer

In truth this is the most important step to bless your space. If you can sit on the ground it’s helpful, but not obligatory. Close your eyes and quiet your mind. From your heart greet your space. Offer the space to the universe, the divine, God, source, or whatever feels good to you. I like to say “I offer this to divine order. Show me the way to make this space feel peaceful and joyful. Guide me to the best possible result.”

Step four- Write a list or letter in your handwriting

It’s essential to have a vision of what your ideal lifestyle would look like inside your home. Maybe you aren’t really sure...that’s okay. At the very least, grab a piece of paper and write down keywords that you would like to see in your space. Here’s an example:

-nourishing-alive-health-playfulness-verdant-joy-laughter-romance-relaxation

Step Five- Spark it up!

Light up your sage wand and walk around the perimeter of your space waving the smoke. I find it helpful to say “May I be shown what needs to stay and may I be shown what needs to go”.

OR

Light some high quality incense. I love incense. I have two types of incense, one is made by English monks and the other is Tennen incense from Japan. Walk around the perimeter waving the smoke saying out loud or in your heart “May I be shown what needs to stay and may I be shown what needs to go”.

OR

I completely understand that not everyone loves incense. If that’s the case, I recommend just putting essential oil in a spray bottle and spraying it around the perimeter. saying out loud or in your heart “May I be shown what needs to stay and may I be shown what needs to go”. *On my website, I have a beautiful Facial Mist Toner with chamomile and lavender that could also work as a spray (it’s so special...I love it:) My website is here: christinedevin.com

Step seven- Sound therapy

Eilleen Day McKusick wrote an amazing book on how she has healed people with tuning forks. They are incredible! I use a rose quartz crystal to tap mine and create sound. Again, I walk around the perimeter of the space I want to bless while waving my tuning fork. A tuning fork is ideal, but don’t worry if you don’t have one. A bell could work or other musical instrument. When I first started doing this sixteen years ago, I used castanets which are small disks that create sound while dancing Flamenco.

Step eight- Final step.

Come back to your initial spot and imagine a warm golden, yellow light of protection surrounding you and your space. It should feel deeply protective and loving. Meditate in this space focusing on your breathing until you feel you are done. Let your candle burn for at least an hour after. Let me know how your ceremony goes and what the results are!

XOXO,

Christine

It’s a ceremony that makes your home feel sacred and clean energetically.  If you do it before tidying, it will ignite the momentum you need to follow through.

It’s not hard to do, and it makes a world of difference!  Half of the ceremony is in gathering the materials; the rest is just fun, healing, and beautiful!

These are the materials, but seriously, no need to buy anything if you think creatively about what you have at home!

- candle

- sage, incense, or essential oil spray

- lighter or matches

- paper

- pen

-tuning fork or bell

-crystal (optional)

1) Step one-  Find a power spot

From your intuition, find a spot in your home that feels good to you.  Spread out your cloth and place all your materials on it.

2) Step two- Display your flowers

If you are using flower heads, place them in a circle on your saucer and put your candle in the middle.

3) Step three- Light your candle and offer

Here’s an example:

-nourishing

-alive

-health

-playfulness

-verdant

-joy

-laughter

-romance

-relaxation

OR

Write a letter.  For example,

Dear universe,

"I would love to have space that makes me feel…

May this or something better happen for everyone involved."

Sign your name, fold the paper, then place it back on your cloth.

5) Step five-  Spark it up!

Light up your sage wand and walk around the perimeter of the space you want to bless waving the smoke.  I find it helpful to say out “May I be shown what needs to stay and may I be shown what needs to go”.

7) Step seven-  Visualize

Come back to your initial spot.  Sitting comfortably,  imagine a warm golden, yellow light of protection surrounding you and your space.  It will feel deeply protective and loving.  Meditate in this space until you feel you are done.  Let your candle burn for at least an hour after.
